S.T.I.L.L.: So, what’s good with you, Anonymous? What have you been working on?
ANONYMOUS: Well, right now, I’m actually working on my second album, which is done. I was working on the album and the mixtape, which is being hosted by “P. Cutta”. And the way I do my mixtapes is taking all the hot artists in the area between MD, DE, and a couple from London, and throw them on the mixtapes, too. And they can get the mixtape anywhere in Maryland. But, if you’re not from the area, fans can hit me up on my MySpace page (www.myspace.com/anonymousbnb ) to get a copy.
S.T.I.L.L.: Let’s talk about your first album, “Anology”, because a lot of people know about your second album, but they’re hearing your music kinda late.
ANONYMOUS: My first album was “Anology”, and fans can get that at any F.Y.E. store in the country, and if it’s out of stock, they can special order it from F.Y.E. That was just me and a couple of members from my BNB (Brothers in Business) Squad, and that album was actually in the stores before I even knew it was in stores, and they released it as soon as they got the final track list. But, that was released last year, 2008.
S.T.I.L.L.: Now, your new album, “24/7” hits stores in March, and the first single is “Who Dat?” featuring Amil (formerly of Roc-A-Fella). How did you hook up with her for that track?
ANONYMOUS: Right, the new album is called 24/7, and it’ll be in stores soon. The way that me and Amil hooked up, at first it was a MySpace networking connect and then, what was crazy is that, I actually slid my number in one of the messages. So, a couple weeks went by, and I wasn’t paying my account any mind, and I was at work, and she hit me at work, and I’m like, “Who is this? , and she said, “This is Amil”. And from there, we went on and worked on the track together and got it finished.
S.T.I.L.L.: You have a track on your MySpace page called “Float On”, which is one of my favorite songs from the album. What inspired you to write that song?
ANONYMOUS: When I wrote that, I was actually living in Dover, Delaware, out of all places. (Laughs) And I was working on a street album called “The Forecast” to let people know that I’m still here doing what I do best. Some days I wake up and feel like “sunshine”, some days I wake up and feel like “rain”, and some days I feel like an “earthquake”. So the song was for the ladies, but it was to let the ladies know that, for those that aren’t down with me now, they can just “Float On”.
S.T.I.L.L.: Who would you say are your musical influences, and is there anyone in the industry that inspires you to be the best hip hop artist you can be?
ANONYMOUS: I’d have to start with Nas, as far as inspiring me to write better than the next man. I mean, everybody says that they’re “the best”, and I expect that because that’s how I feel. But, I’d have to say Nas, Eminem, people like Jay-Z, even people like pioneering rappers, like Kool G. Rap, that don’t get the props they deserve.
S.T.I.L.L.: Is there anybody in the industry that you haven’t yet worked with musically that you’d like to collab with on your future albums?
ANONYMOUS: Yes! This is crazy, but out of all people, I want Katt Williams to do my intro on one of my albums. (Laughs) But, musically, I always wanted to work with Disturbing Tha Peace, like way back when they was dropping albums on mixtapes way back in the day. So, I think Luda, I’d like to do just one song with Janet Jackson before she leaves this earth. (Laughs) I gotta feel like Busta when they did their song together.
S.T.I.L.L.: Will you be doing any live performances to promote “24/7”? And, if so, when and where can fans see you “live”?
ANONYMOUS: Right now, we have no upcoming shows for the new album, but all the live performances will be announced on my MySpace page as they come up. I’ve pretty much been working a lot on the album and the video stuff, so I’m trying to concentrate on one thing at a time. But, if somebody wants me to come to their party and get it in, I’ll be there! Just hit me up on my MySpace and make your request, and I’m there.
S.T.I.L.L.: Tell us a little about the artists featuring on the new album. Who else features with you on the album in addition to Amil?
ANONYMOUS: Alright, I have one of my BNB members, S.B….and my boy, Wicked Born. (Pauses) I got Kool G. Rap on there, and Reg Bono, and Miela Reign is on the song “Exotica”. Sha is on the album, which is another BNB member and, for now, that’s pretty much everybody.
S.T.I.L.L.: Now, you have another song on there called “Welcome to MD” that’s drawn a lot of attention to you, and it’s another one of my favorites because it mentions my home state of Delaware. (Laughs) What was your goal when you recorded that track?
ANONYMOUS: That had a lot of plays because when I advertised “Anology”, that was the first song that played. It was actually my intro song from “Anology”, and it had to be a song that would get you prepared for the rest of the album. But, it had to be a heavy-hitter, and that was my goal for that song…to give a strong impression from the start of the album, and S.B. is on that song, too.
S.T.I.L.L.: Okay, so you’ve done the radio interviews, you have two albums (one in stores now), and you’ve got the video for the first single filming later this month. What’s next for “Anonymous”? What do you hope to have achieved by the end of 2009 with this album??
ANONYMOUS: With this album, I want to expand because I’m not directly shooting for a major deal. (Laughs) This game is based on, “how much you put in it is how much you get back”, and I want to see millions off this album! (Laughs) I also want to meet new connects, new plugs, because I gotta stay plugged in. I’m actually interested in getting into the movie world because writing songs is not getting played out, but I think I can write a two-hour long movie after I get tired of this music thing…Which I probably won’t get tired of! (Laughs) But, after the music, I’d like to get into the screenwriting. BUT, I need that song with Janet Jackson!! (Laughs)
